Prince Harry is set to “peel the curtain back” with Royal Family members warned over the potential for further controversy. Dad-of-two Harry’s new series will “pull back the curtain” on the sport of polo according to Netflix.
Netflix said regarding the upcoming programme: “The series will pull back the curtain on the sport, known primarily for its aesthetic and social scene, capturing the full story of what it takes to compete at its highest level.”
The polo show will be “shot primarily at the US Open Polo Championship in Wellington, Florida at The USPA National Polo Center,” per Sussex.com. Archewell Productions, in partnership with Boardwalk Pictures, “will provide viewers with unprecedented access to the world of professional polo. Known primarily for its aesthetic and social scene, the series will pull the curtain back on the grit and passion of the sport, capturing players and all it takes to compete at the highest level.”
A source told the Mail: “Any reasonable person tuning into a show about polo made by Prince Harry would expect Harry to take a starring role. That he’s not is hugely disappointing for Netflix. Let’s face it, polo isn’t exactly a mainstream sport so the attraction would have been watching Harry. Without him, it’s marginal at best.
“The Netflix deal expires next year, so the Sussexes need a big hit. This sounds like a big nothing burger.” Another insider said: “For a show about a sport of kings, polo barely features any royalty. It’s not the Harry show, it’s the Nacho show.”
While a third source is quoted as saying: “Nice of Harry to do his mate a favour.” In September, Netflix announced that Polo will premiere in December. No specific date has been announced yet, but the streaming service described the show as “a new documentary series that follows elite global players and offers an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the fast-paced world of the sport.”
