Kensington Palace shares update as Prince William, George make surprise visit to Paris
Prince William seemingly treated his son Prince George for a special treat as the father and son duo made a surprise visit to Paris on Wednesday.
The Prince of Wales and his first-born appeared in the stands at the Parc des Princes to support William’s favourite football team, Aston Villa, in their match against Paris Saint-Germain.
Kensington Palace shared an update about the unexpected trip in a special video, in which William gave an encouraging message.
Before the match kicked off, William met with the players and gave them an encouraging hug as they ran out to the field.
William also took a moment to speak to the commentators for the night, Ally and Rio, and the future king left quite the impression with his well-informed opinion on the match.
“Obviously, there is a limit and that you know, can we get round the press? Can we beat it? So, I’m thinking long ball a bit but I’m thinking also how they’re going to get around the high press, so it’s going to be a challenging night,” William said, adding, “and I’m looking forward to it the tactics Unais is going to have to employ.”
In response the commentators joked to the Prince to never take up a punditry job because William could easily replace them, praising him for the way he “dissected” the play.
The video was accompanied by the following message, “A big night in the Champions League under the lights. Not the result we wanted but it’s not over yet! Bring on the second leg at Villa Park! UTV.”
‘UTV’ is a common acronym for football fans which stands for “Up The Villa”.
