Adrian Newey has reportedly decided that he wants to leave Red Bull, potentially opening the door for him to join Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari next year. Newey, who is arguably the greatest technical mastermind in Formula One history, is said to have grown frustrated with the internal politics at Red Bull this season.
It remains to be seen where Newey will end up, with Ferrari, Aston Martin and Mercedes thought to be keen on bringing him in. He is tied down to Red Bull until the end of 2025 but is reportedly confident that he can negotiate an exit allowing him to join another team next year.
Red Bull issued a response to Newey’s impending exit on Thursday, insisting they were yet to hear from the man himself. A spokesperson for the reigning champions told PlanetF1: “Adrian is contracted until at least the end of 2025. We are unaware of him joining any other team.”
