Sarah Ferguson is facing a tumultuous time following her ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s loss of titles and honours, leading to her reportedly being “in the doghouse.”
Despite still residing at the disputed Royal Lodge in Windsor, she’s coping with the situation by spending time in a staff-built bar at the mansion dubbed “The Doghouse,” while also dealing with a backlog of business paperwork.
One key change involves removing the word ‘Duchess’ from paperwork related to the eight limited companies she directs.
The Daily Mail reports Ferguson is entangled in managing complex company affairs, amid efforts to distance her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, from the scandal.
A royal insider noted, “Sarah is encouraging Beatrice and Eugenie to get on with life as normal and discouraging them from meeting with her,” fearing association could harm their royal standing.
However, Ferguson retains powerful allies. Royal author Andrew Lownie told The Mirror, “Richard Branson’s invited her to stay at Necker Island whenever she wants. Lots of people will come out of the woodwork to support her.”
Lownie added she might relocate to Switzerland or Portugal, near her daughter, saying, “So she has lots of places she can go.”
Before Andrew’s downfall, Ferguson had nearly reconciled with the royal family, having attended Wimbledon and been invited to Sandringham for Christmas—an invitation now revoked.
Andrew is reportedly spending his days “ranting and muttering” about his situation, which may worsen as more people come forward with allegations, according to Lownie.
“I’m hearing from protection officers, diplomats, people in the Navy. I’m getting two or three people a day,” he said, leading to plans for an expanded edition of his book Entitled and a sequel, Untitled.
