Weather is testing the patience of players awaiting their match schedules at the Miami Open. While the dark clouds have surrounded the city, causing a delay in the competitions, tennis legend Serena Williams also appeared to be affected by the rain showers.
As the players at the Hard Rock Stadium are looking up in the sky, waiting for the clouds to clear out, Serena also had to cancel her sporting plans for the day. Recently, the WTA legend shared stories on Instagram in which she can be seen retreating from the field in a golf cart after canceling her plans to play with her daughter Olympia.
“I am drenched,” Serena told the fans, after finding a roof to save herself from the “crazy storm”. As the weather conditions in Miami continue to cause chaos for tennis entities spread across the US, it still remains to be seen when the sky clears out, waving a green flag for the tennis world to resume the show.
After hanging her tennis racket for good, Serena Williams acquired a liking for several other sports, with golf as a major interest. Along with enjoying the sport in her free time, the tennis legend also envisioned the bright future of it. Her investment in the Los Angeles Golf Club, which was also the first TGL team, proved her keen interest in it.
While her ownership in the LAGC golf club is shared by her husband Alexis Ohanian and sister Venus Williams, it also becomes more of a family thing. Besides that, her appearance in one of the Super Bowl commercials for Michelob Ultra also hinted at her developed skillset in golf.
Posting glimpses of the shoot on Instagram, the tennis legend was seen taking a stance for the shot. With these and several other moments of being connected with the sport, the tennis legend has made her love for golf evident.
Serena Williams’ enhanced vision for golf
There’s a reason why Serena Williams chose golf as her interest after retiring from her professional tennis career. Back when the tennis star got involved in several gigs related to golf, she also revealed her approach towards golf, a sport that has grown with an evident pace.

“I do know that the golf courses are changing. I do know that it is no longer about country clubs or being stuffy or narrow attitudes, and I think it is here to stay and that fans are energetic, the communities are inclusive, with younger more diverse faces,” she said, revealing the reason behind her inclination towards the sport. As the tennis legend continues to practice golf with her family, it still remains to be seen if she digs deeper into it.
