Red Bull is looking to resolve a correlation issue that has plagued it for a number of races, which Sergio Perez thinks will offer a personal boost.

Sergio Perez believes solving the correlation issues Red Bull is suffering from could benefit his side of the garage more than F1 team-mate Max Verstappen’s.

Red Bull’s early season advantage over the F1 field has been wiped out with the reigning world champions failing to win any of the last five grands prix.

The Milton Keynes-based squad has struggled with its car in the mid-part of the season and even reverted to older spec parts at the Dutch Grand Prix last weekend.

Perez’s on-track results have been notably lacklustre compared to Verstappen’s this year, leading to doubts over the Mexican driver’s place within the team beyond the summer break.

However, Perez has retained his spot for at least the remainder of the year and believes the team coming to grips with its woes will lead to a boost in performance.

“I think the solution is the same for both cars,” Perez told media including RacingNews365.

“Max can probably cope with a problem a little bit better with his style than I can. But ultimately, once we are able to solve it, it’s going to benefit a lot for the drivers – it might benefit me even more.

“I think the correlation issue, we’ve had it for a while, and it’s within a lot of things. I wouldn’t say that that’s the main problem.

“The main problem is that we probably took a wrong direction somewhere that we have to understand.”
