Back in 2009, the golf legend’s affair with Rachel Uchitel became a defining moment in one of the biggest celebrity scandals of the decade. At the time, Woods was married, and the revelation of the year-long affair with Uchitel shook both the sports and entertainment world.
Fast forward to today, and Uchitel is back in the spotlight but for a very different reason. Just days after Woods confirmed his relationship with Vanessa Trump, Uchitel announced that she’s engaged to her boyfriend, Dan Donovan. The timing? Impossible to ignore. While Tiger’s romance went public, Rachel dropped her own news complete with photos of her emerald-cut engagement ring and a beachfront proposal in Santa Barbara.
The proposal, which took place at the luxurious Rosewood Miramar Beach, was straight out of a romantic movie. Donovan, founder of the event management company Stratoscope, got down on one knee on a private balcony overlooking the ocean. Uchitel shared the moment on Instagram, posting pictures of the ring, a sunset kiss, and a caption that left no doubt: she’s in love and ready to turn the page.
Though Uchitel has largely stayed out of tabloid headlines in recent years, her sudden reappearance in the media especially in such close proximity to Woods’ new relationship has people talking.
Woods, for his part, has not commented on the engagement, but his relationship with Vanessa Trump marks a new chapter in his personal lifeone that seems to be unfolding publicly once again. With both Tiger and Rachel entering fresh relationships, it seems the past is officially in the rearview mirror.
