Now that Jonathan Owens’ season is over with the Green Bay Packers, he and Simone Biles are back in Houston, which meant a pair of courtside seats for the Rockets’ impressive win over the Lakers on Monday night at Toyota Center.
The couple, which got married in May, had floor seats in the corner directly across the court from the Lakers bench and received a nice ovation from the sellout crowd when they were shown on the video board during a timeout.
Biles often attends Rockets game, even taking the ceremonial first shot before games in 2017 and 2021 and once stepping on the court to dance with mascot Clutch the Bear during a timeout.
This is at least the second time Biles and Owens have been at Toyota Center to watch LeBron James and the Lakers. Judging from his Twitter account, Owens isn’t much of a Lakers supporter, but is a huge James fan as is evidenced by the numerous times he’s tweeted that the NBA’s all-time leading scorer is “the GOAT.”
Simone Biles is the most decorated American gymnast in history and was the Associated Press’ female athlete of the year in 2023 after returning to the mat and winning her record eighth U.S. national championship and July and sixth world all-around gold in October. Once she finished that, she was a regular at Owens’ games with the Packers, even if she didn’t draw the same attention as Taylor Swift at Chiefs games.
The 28-year-old Owens, who met Biles when he was playing for the Texans, left Houston for a one-year, $1 million contract in Green Bay in the offseason. He had a good season for the Packers, ranking third on the team in tackles with 84. He recorded four tackles in Green Bay’s playoff upset of the Cowboys and three more in the season-ending loss to the 49ers.
