

R&B soul singer and Grammy-winner D’Angelo, known for hits like Brown Sugar and How Does it Feel, has died after privately battling pancreatic cancer, People and TMZ confirmed Tuesday.

D’Angelo, whose real name is Michael Eugene Archer, died at the age of 51. He is from Richmond, Virginia.
DJ Premier, who worked with D’Angelo on the 1998 song Devil’s Pie, shared the news on X Tuesday.
“Such a sad loss to the passing of D’Angelo. We have so many great times. Gonna miss you so much. Sleep peacefully D’ Love You KING,” he wrote.
D’Angelo’s career earned him critical acclaim for blending soul, R&B and funk, and his music influenced many artists over the years.
