Country music superstar, future “American Idol” judge and Oklahoma native Carrie Underwood made a surprise appearance on the 58th Annual Country Music Association Awards.
The CMA Awards audience erupted with appreciative cheers as the eight-time Grammy Award winner, who hails from Checotah, glided onto the stage to join superstar Texas native Cody Johnson in performing their hit duet “I’m Gonna Love You.”
“Yeah, that’s Carrie Underwood,” Johnson told the crowd with a smile after sharing a verse with her.
The fervent ballad is included on the newly released deluxe edition of Johnson’s “Leather,” which won album of the year at Wednesday night’s CMA Awards.
The CMA Awards, which were broadcast live on ABC from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, are now streaming on Hulu.
