Golfer Tiger Woods has been honored with a prestigious award from the United States Golf Association, as reported by ESPN.
It has been announced that Woods has been named the recipient of the Bob Jones Award for his commitment to athletic excellence and respect for golf traditions. While Woods is typically celebrated for his on-course performances, where he has clinched 15 majors out of 82 career victories on the PGA Tour, this accolade transcends his playing achievements and recognizes his remarkable and enduring impact on the sport of golf.

“Few can rival Tiger Woods’ accomplishments on the course, and he stands in a class of his own when it comes to the influence he has had on the game and on future generations who will play it,” said Mike Whan, CEO of the USGA.

Tiger Woods himself expressed his gratitude, stating that Bob Jones was a pillar and exemplar of the game, and he is truly touched to receive this award.

“Bob Jones was a cornerstone of our game through the integrity with which he played it, and I am truly touched to receive an award bearing his name and to join the many who have received it before me, who continue his legacy,” Woods said in his statement.

Notably, Woods was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2022, and in 2019, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Donald Trump.

Tiger Woods is an American golfer, a 15-time major tournament winner. Throughout his career, he has won 82 PGA Tour events and 40 European Tour events. He was the first athlete to become a billionaire, with the majority of his earnings (about 90%) coming from endorsements rather than on-course winnings.

We would like to remind you that Tiger Woods withdrew from his last tournament due to health problems.
