Tiger Woods last won the Masters in 2019

On Tuesday, Woods took to X to suggest he had made a recovery from his recent injury

Tiger Woods brought some humour to social media on April Fools’ Day, momentarily sending the golf world into a frenzy.

On Tuesday morning, Woods took to X to suggest he had made a miraculous recovery from his recent Achilles injury and was ready to compete at the Masters next week. His post read:

“I can’t believe I am saying this, but a few weeks after rupturing my left Achilles, the sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber plus the explosive lifts my doctors and trainers have me ready to play the Masters next week! Can’t wait! See y’all on the course,” Woods wrote Tuesday morning on X.

However, just five minutes later, he cleared up the joke by quoting his own post and adding: “P.S. April Fools my Achilles is still a mess :)”

Few likely fell for the gag, as Woods only recently underwent surgery for what was described as a “minimally invasive” Achilles tendon repair. He injured himself while ramping up his training and has since been focused on recovery, with no timeline set for his return to competition.

A five-time champion at Augusta National, Woods’ most recent victory in 2019 marked one of the greatest comebacks in sports. Even after suffering major injuries in a 2021 car accident, he continued to defy the odds, making the cut at last year’s Masters for a record-breaking 24th consecutive time.

The 2025 Masters tees off on April 10, with Scottie Scheffler aiming to defend his title and claim a third Green Jacket at Augusta National.

The World No. 1 won’t have it easy, though, with Rory McIlroy leading a star-studded field eager to challenge him. McIlroy, chasing a career Grand Slam, arrives at Augusta in arguably his best form yet, having already secured two PGA Tour wins this season – including a triumph at the prestigious Players Championship last month.
