It is still unknown if Tiger Woods’ first competitive golf match since the death of his mother will come Tuesday in Jupiter Links’ next TGL match.
Woods’ mother, Kultida Woods, died Feb. 4 and the 15-time major champion and Jupiter Island resident withdrew from this week’s Genesis Invitational, an event Woods hosts and whose foundation is the beneficiary.
TGL revealed Monday’s lineups for the Presidents’ Day tripleheader at SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, but has delayed the announcement of Tuesday’s lineup for the match between Jupiter Links and New York Golf Club.
Woods announced Monday he was not ready to play this week. Genesis is taking place at Torrey Pines Golf Course outside San Diego this year having moved from Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades due to the wildfires that recently swept through the Los Angeles area.
“I planned to tee it up this week, but I’m just not ready,” Woods wrote in a statement released on social media. “I did my best to prepare, knowing it’s what my Mom would have wanted, but I’m still processing her loss. Thanks to everyone who has reached out. I hope to be at Torrey later in the week and appreciate the continued kindness since my Mom’s passing.”
Kultida Woods was seen at Tiger’s first TGL match one week prior to her death rooting on her son. The league honored her with a moment of silence at the match between Boston Common and Los Angeles Golf Club the night she died.
She was 78 years old.
After scheduling its first five matches over five weeks, Monday’s Presidents’ Day triple-header starts a hectic TGL schedule with 10 matches in 16 days.
The three undefeated teams will be featured in the triple header, with two of those, Atlanta Drive and The Bay Golf Club, each playing two matches.
