While many know Tiger Woods as a legendary golfer, he has earned his fair share of controversies. Many loyal fans vividly remember the times in 2009 when the American golfer was going through some dark times. The 48-year-old has bounced back from the situation, but it looks like the past ghosts have not had enough of the golfer.
It all stems from a dream project of Tiger Woods failing—to make a golf course in North Carolina. This has raised some concerns for the golfer, who is currently moving on from his Nike split. But whether it was the 2009 scandal or some other reason, this dream has reportedly cost him millions!
Back in 2007, the American golfer selected Buncombe County to be the home of his first-ever designed golf course. “We’re here to officially announce that my first American golf course is going to be here at the Cliffs at High Carolina,” he said. However, this dream never became a reality, as in the subsequent years the real estate market tanked and the 48-year-old got tied up in serious allegations.
Golf USA owner Robert Green said that when it was announced that a Tiger Woods golf course was coming to Asheville, his happiness knew no bounds. He was a golf enthusiast and also had a store for it. Sharing his plea about what went down, he said, “Whether it be Tiger’s scandal or the great recession, you know, that’s understandable, but it’s a shame it never happened.”
Once owned by Tiger Woods, the property is up on the market again
Following this unfortunate chain of events, the 550 acres of land went up for auction in 2017. While it didn’t sell in the auction, brokers Billy May and Keller Williams sold the piece of land for $15.5 million in 2019.
But now the piece of land is back again in the market for grabs, this time for a price of $19 million! However, the real reason it gained popularity never became a reality. Furthermore, many people lost their investments due to this.
