ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A major fashion show that has showcased many of Alaska’s finest fashion designers and artists is making one last appearance before ending its run this weekend.

Trend Alaska, which started in 2019, is hosting its final fashion show Saturday, ending a run that started several years ago.

The idea for the show was born from a group of women who came together to create a fashion show that also raised money for a local nonprofit, according to Carol Fraser, founder and committee chair of Trend Alaska.

“Our first show, we had no idea what we were doing, and it was an incredible success,” Fraser said. “So we decided to do it again and again.”

The annual event has typically showcased fashion, music, dance, and wearable art.

This year will be the final year. Fraser said the amount of technical work to put on the show takes up so much time and energy that they decided to create one last event and go out with a bang.

“It’s a monster of a show,” Fraser said. “So we decided, ‘Let’s do it one more time, and let’s go really really big.’”

The show — which will involve over 225 participants — will be hosted at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Anchorage. Tickets can be found on the Trend Alaska website.
