“TRON: Ares” features Oscar winner Jared Leto as Ares, an AI super soldier brought from inside a villainous tech tycoon’s computer system into the real world.

For Leto, a self-described “Tron” superfan, the role is “like a dream come true.”

“For me, ‘Tron’ is like, you know, someone else’s ‘Star Wars.'” Leto told On The Red Carpet. “I just love the storyline of the characters. I love the grid. I love the world. I love the technology. And what they did in that first film was really groundbreaking.”

In the new movie, when Ares discovers he prefers the freedoms of his new reality, he enlists the help of a rival tech CEO, played by Greta Lee who is making history as the first Korean American to lead a major Hollywood blockbuster.

“I’m still trying to accept it. Like, it’s really surreal to me,” Lee told On The Red Carpet. “Yes, she’s a woman, she’s Asian, she’s Korean American, she’s all these things. But at the end of the day, the thing that keeps me going is a chance to play someone real and someone who I hope people can relate to on some level and see themselves in.”

“TRON: Ares” also stars Gillian Anderson, Evan Peters, Jodie-Turner-Smith and Jeff Bridges, who’s been part of the “TRON” saga since the first film in 1982.

For superfan, Jared Leto, working with Bridges was particularly fun.

“When he walked on the set for the first time everyone applauded,” Leto said. “He’s everything that you think he’s gonna be. He’s kind, he’s generous, he’s fun, he’s funny, he’s perfect, you know, of course, in every take.”

The special “TRON: Ares” episode of On The Red Carpet also includes footage from the film’s world premiere, a look back at the legacy of “TRON” movies dating back more than 40 years, the new music by Nine Inch Nails on the “TRON: Ares” soundtrack, and how you can experience your own “TRON” adventures at Walt Disney World Resort!
