Simona Halep refutes rumors linking her to former ATP star Joao Monteiro.
Simona Halep insists there is “nothing” romantically going on between herself and playing partner Joao Monteiro. Halep has been provisionally suspended from the WTA Tour after returning a positive drug test at last year’s US Open.
She’s continually denied the doping allegations against her, pleading her innocence while she awaits the verdict in her case to challenge the charges. While the investigation has been ongoing, Halep has been keeping herself fit and ready if she’s given the green light to return to competitive tennis.
Monteiro was hired to join Halep’s team recently to help step up her preparations away from the tour. Romanian media picked up on an image of Monteiro with one of Halep’s closest friends and speculated on whether the two tennis stars were dating.
But Halep has refuted the claims on social media, taking to Instagram to deny any such relationship with her playing partner.
