Aryna Sabalenka maintains her top spot in the WTA Rankings, followed by Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff. Elena Rybakina has now taken the fifth position, surpassing Jessica Pegula.
Most players in the top 20 of the rankings were inactive last week as they were resting ahead of this week’s WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai, China, and next week’s WTA Finals in Cancun, Mexico.
However, many of them dropped points over the past seven days for their participation in the Guadalajara Open at the same time last year.
Sabalenka, though, still leads the way at No 1 with 8,425 points – a 630-point lead over Swiatek and the year-end No 1 battle will be settled at the season-ending WTA Finals. Sabalenka finished runner-up last year while Swiatek lost in the semi-finals.
Gauff is another 1,840 points adrift in third place, but she has a slender 90-point lead over Rybakina, who didn’t drop any points last week. As a result, Rybakina moved up to fourth place with Pegula dropping to fifth as she was the defending champion in Guadalajara.
Marketa Vondrousova is up to a career-high No 6 as Maria Sakkari has dropped three places to No 9 while Barbora Krejcikova climbed three places to No 10 to make it three Czechs in the top 10 with Karolina Muchova at No 9.
Petra Kvitova also received a three-place bump and she is now at No 13 while Daria Kasatkina dropped six places to No 16. Yet Kasatkina is not the biggest loser in terms of ranking positions in the top 20 as that honour went to Caroline Garcia as the Frenchman dropped 10 places to No 20.
Outside the top 20 and Jasmine Paolini may have missed out on the Jasmin Open title, but her run to the final was still good enough to help her to a new career-high No 29. Jasmin Open winner Elise Mertens is one place behind after moving up six places.

Leylah Fernandez also continued her rise as the Canadian climbed back into the top 40 for the first time since February this year after following up her Hong Kong Open title last week with a run to the Jiangxi Open semi-final. The former world No 13 moved up eight places to no 34.
Jiangxi winner Katerina Siniakova surged 14 places to No 46 – one place ahead of 16-year-old Mirra Andreeva who now sits at a new career high.
British No 1 Katie Boulter is at No 55 with Jodie Burrage at No 91.
