Simona Halep (32 years old) made a statement full of honesty regarding her return to the tennis court after receiving a favorable verdict from the CAS.
The first and, for now, only official match played by Simona Halep in 2024, after being cleared of doping suspension, the one against Paula Badosa in the first round of the Miami Open, was a special one for our athlete.
Halep revealed that she had emotions before returning to the court because she didn’t know what reaction to expect from the public.
“I was very emotional when I returned to the court. I didn’t know, I wasn’t sure how I would be received, on the court and off it. I didn’t know what to expect in Miami. (…) When I arrived, the love I received from the people working at the tournament, the security, everyone around me, everything helped me forget. I felt as if I had never been away! Great, great energy, I was very happy, a very beautiful experience for me, more than I expected,” stated Simona Halep in an interview given to the Associated Press, a source cited by the website tennisworldusa.org.
Simona Halep was supposed to participate this week in the WTA 125 Oireas tournament, but she withdrew due to medical issues.
