Prince William and King Charles are at odds over what to do about the King’s disgraced brother Prince Andrew. The top notes? Charles wants to keep Andrew around to guarantee his loyalty, and William wants to cut him off completely.
“Charles thinks keeping Andrew and Fergie close somehow protects the family,” a royal source tells Rob Shuters ShuterScoop. “But to everyone else, it looks reckless, naïve, and frankly stupid. The scandals around those two never end.”
William is specifically “focused on the crown’s future,” and a source close to him says, “He knows the public has no appetite for Andrew or Fergie being anywhere near the royal stage. He sees this as a direct threat.”
Meanwhile, a palace courtier explains, “It’s a generational divide. William wants a clean break. Charles can’t let go. And unless he does, the monarchy risks going down with Andrew and Fergie.”
Royal expert Hilary Fordwich recently told Fox News, “Prince William has long had a strained and distant relationship with Andrew” and holds “a grudge against his disgraced uncle.”
She added, “Andrew’s future within the royal family is beyond bleak, since Prince William is firmly opposed to any public rehabilitation with no foreseeable path back. He wants Andrew to vanish from public view.”
