MOLOAA (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Kauai Fire Department extinguished a structure fire in Moloaa on Monday.
Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a structure fire behind the fruit stands in Moloa‘a on Monday shortly before 10:45 a.m.
Personnel with the Kapa‘a, Keaalia, Princeville, and Lihu‘e fire stations, the Fire Prevention Bureau, and the on-duty Battalion Chief responded to the incident.
According to a preliminary report, shortly after 10:55 a.m., firefighters discovered a single home in flames.
First responders successfully extinguished the fire using a water tender due to the lack of fire hydrants in the surrounding area.
KFD Fire Prevention Bureau investigators took over the scene and conducted an investigation.
Firefighters cleared the scene shortly before 12:50 p.m.
Damages to the structure and contents are estimated at $105,000, and the cause remains under investigation.
