HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The man accused of setting a townhouse on fire in Nanakuli last week allegedly confessed to the crime.
According to court documents, Keith Mahoe, 54, told a detective, “I’m bipolar, and I burned my parents’ place down,” after his arrest on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
According to the Honolulu Police Department, multiple witnesses on Helelua Place say they saw someone enter and exit the unit before it went up in flames, causing $700,000 in damage.
Mahoe has been charged with first degree arson.
His bail was set at $100,000.
No one was injured in the fire.
