HAMAKUA (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Hawaii Fire Department issued a wildfire statement around 1 p.m. for a fire that broke out in the Hamakua District on Wednesday.
Officials said the fire is between the 43 and 44 Mile Markers off of Highway 19, near Honoka`a, between Plumeria St. and Tex Drive-in.
Due to the wildland fire, be advised that smoke may be visible in the area.
There are no structures threatened at this time and no road closures reported.
Officials tell the public to expect traffic delays in the area and to avoid the area.
