Royal commentator suggests Prince Harry and Meghan Markle must stop using their kids for engagement
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are facing fresh criticism for involving their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in their social media content.
Royal commentator Richard Eden has accused the Sussexes for their hypocrisy as their move contradicts their long-standing calls for privacy.
In the video for Daily Mail Voices, Richard urged that Harry and Meghan must stop exploiting them for the benefit of Meghan’s company, As Ever.
Richard Eden said that while Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have long campaigned on the “dangers of social media, particularly when it comes to children,” their own relationship with online platforms appears contradictory since the Duchess of Sussex launched her brand As Ever.
Since the wife of Prince Harry returned to Instagram, she has been using the platform to promote her lifestyle brand and also sharing glimpses from their family life. While keeping the face hidden, Meghan has been sharing photos and video clips of their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The royal commentator said in the video that “to me it is hypocritical, either they shun social media or they use it.”
He noted that “they can’t criticise it on one hand and then ruthlessly use it to show videos of their young children.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their royal roles in 2020 and moved to California, where they live with their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have consistently emphasized on the privacy of their children. They have openly discussed the impact of intense media scrutiny on Harry’s own childhood and been determined to shield their children from that pressures.
