King Charles and Queen Camilla will stay in Scotland to celebrate local culture
Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has met Queen Camilla at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The royal family released a picture of the author and the Queen with a brief statement on Tuesday.
The statement said, “With a shared passion for books and a deep commitment to children reading for pleasure, The Queen and author J.K. Rowling have met at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh. “
It said, “Her Majesty and Ms Rowling discussed the importance of ensuring that young people have access to books and the vital part reading plays in opening doors for future generations.”
King Charles and Queen Camilla are in Scotland to celebrate Scottish culture as part of Royal Week.
Each year, the Monarch spends a week visiting various regions in Scotland, meeting Scots from all walks of life and hosting thousands at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in recognition of their good work.
Known in Scotland as ‘Royal Week’, and to others as ‘Holyrood Week’, these visits celebrate Scottish culture, achievement and community. Holyrood week normally takes place from the end of June to the beginning of July.
Holyrood Week always begins on the forecourt of Holyrood Palace with the Ceremony of the Keys. The King is welcomed into the city of Edinburgh, ‘your ancient and hereditary kingdom of Scotland’ by the Lord Provost, who offers him the keys of the city.
