Charlie Woods Jr. will play in the U.S Junior Amateur Championship – one of the biggest amateur events in golf – after coming through a playoff to secure his place in the field in Texas
Charlie Woods has secured his spot in next month’s U.S. Junior Amateur Championship in Dallas, following a successful playoff in Florida on Thursday.
With his father, 15-time major winner Tiger, present, Woods Jr. navigated a three-for-one playoff to earn his place in the esteemed event for the second consecutive year. The young Floridian is currently in top form, having recently clinched the Team TaylorMade Invitational, his first AJGA title.
Tiger hasn’t competed since missing the cut at The Open Championship last July due to injury, having ruptured his Achilles earlier this year before announcing his relationship with Vanessa Trump, but this has allowed him to devote more time to his son’s game.
The 82-time PGA Tour champion was present at the Eagle Trace Golf Club qualifier and watched as Woods Jr. secured his Junior Amateur spot. The 16-year-old posted an impressive one-under-par 71 across his 18 holes, landing him in a tie for fifth on the leaderboard.
He then outperformed Oscar Crowe and Matthew Marigliano in a playoff to join Arth Sinha, Lucas Gimenez, Sohan Patel, and Wylie Inman in securing one of the five available spots. Charlie will receive no prize money at the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, even if he wins, as it is an amateur event.
Huxley Cooper Fostvedt’s family captured footage of him warming up alongside Woods Jr. on the range.

Showing his true colors by demonstrating his good manners, the son of arguably the greatest golfer of all time was seen apologizing as he walked across the camera shot, capturing Cooper Fostvedt in action. Young Woods’ focus will now shift to delivering a strong performance at the U.S. Junior Amateur.
The prestigious competition has been claimed by some of the sport’s greatest players, including Woods Sr., who snagged the title thrice in his junior days.
Among those who have triumphed here before are three-time major champion Jordan Spieth and the current top player in the world, Scottie Scheffler.
Following a challenging Sage Valley Junior Invitational, young Woods is making a comeback, feeling pumped from his latest performances. His recent victory at the Team TaylorMade Invitational was particularly significant, as it placed him among the elite AJGA victors.
“It means so much because I haven’t really performed at the highest level yet,” the rising star reflected on his victory this past May. “And to finally do it after all the work I have put in and not playing well in big events in the past.
