Swiatek a Selective Swiftie: Likes 7 Tracks on Taylor’s “The Tortured Poets Department”
Tennis champion Iga Swiatek, a self-proclaimed Swiftie, recently weighed in on Taylor Swift’s latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department” (TTPD). While not a full-on endorsement, Swiatek revealed she enjoys a specific selection of the record’s tracks.

Picking Favorites
During a press conference in Rome, Swiatek, the current world No. 1, shared her thoughts on the 31-song double album. She admitted to listening “straightaway” after a previous tournament and enjoying specific songs. “I would say there are, like, seven songs that I really like,” Swiatek said, “[I made] a playlist of all of them.”

Folklore Forever
Swiatek’s taste leans towards the familiar territory of Swift’s earlier work. “I most like the songs that are kind of leaning forwards, the vibe of Folklore and Evermore,” she revealed. Folklore and Evermore, released in 2020 and 2021 respectively, were critically acclaimed for their introspective lyricism and dreamlike soundscapes. It seems Swiatek prefers this style over the potentially “less poppy” direction of TTPD.

A Busy Fan
Swiatek also acknowledged the demanding schedule of a professional tennis player might have impacted her experience with the album. “Rest of them are… I mean, I fell asleep twice when I was flying,” she admitted with a laugh. Juggling tournaments likely left her with less time for dedicated listening sessions.

Fan or Critic?
Swiatek’s comments offer a glimpse into the preferences of a high-profile music fan. Her honesty about enjoying only a portion of the album is relatable to many listeners who curate their own playlists. While not a scathing critique, it highlights the subjective nature of music appreciation, even for celebrities.

Swiatek and Swift: A Match Made in Music?
Despite her selective listening, Swiatek remains a Swiftie at heart. Her dedication to attending the Eras Tour this year is a testament to her overall fandom. One thing’s for sure: Swiatek will likely be waiting with anticipation for Taylor’s next musical offering.
