HILO (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Hawaii Island judge maintained bail for a carjacking suspect with an extensive criminal history.
Pomaika’i Olson appeared in the Hilo District Court on Tuesday morning.
He’s accused of a crime spree in Volcano on Saturday that included holding four people at gunpoint, stealing three vehicles, causing multiple car crashes, and attempting a burglary.
Back in 2023, he was charged with multiple property damage offenses on Oahu.
On Tuesday, the court denied his request for bail reduction and supervised release, saying he’s a flight risk and is a safety threat in the community.
The 31-year-old’s bail is set at $592,000. He’s set to be back in court on Thursday.
