Ahead of the Emilia Romagna GP this weekend, four-time world champion Max Verstappen has opened up on his Red Bull future following several reports suggesting he could quit in recent months.
The Dutchman has been the benchmark for excellence in F1 since his first title win in 2021, though the 2025 season has not been as fruitful so far. Although he is under contract with Red Bull until 2028, there is a performance-related clause in his deal that allows him to ditch the Austrian-based outfit if they can no longer provide him with a competitive car.
With McLaren maintaining their performance levels after dethroning Red Bull in the 2024 Constructors’ Championship and Red Bull’s RB21 car lacking the dominant pace we’ve come to expect, speculation over Verstappen’s future has started to intensify. If the team’s form doesn’t drastically improve, Verstappen will almost certainly be legally free to explore a move. Now, the man himself has spoken out about where he sees himself driving next season.
