Much to the chagrin of golf fans everywhere, Tiger Woods won’t be playing in the Masters this year – if he even steps on the golf course at all in 2025 it might be a miracle.
Earlier this year the 15-time major champion announced he suffered a torn Achilles while attempting to ramp up for the season.
“As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured. This morning, Dr. Charlton Stucken of Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida performed a minimally-invasive Achilles tendon repair for a ruptured tendon,” he said in a statement at the time.
Just a few weeks later he attempted to fool fans with an April Fools’ Day joke about his miraculous recovery just in time for the event. “I can’t believe I am saying this, but a few weeks after rupturing my left Achilles, the sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber plus the explosive lifts my doctors and trainers have me ready to play the Masters next week! Can’t wait! See y’all on the course,” he announced on social media.
Not many were fooled, and while they knew he wasn’t going to play, they at least expected him to attend the Champions Dinner, held every year with the past winners of the tournament.

However, fans noticed right away the legend was missing from the photograph of the past winners.
“Tiger????” one fan asked.
“Where is Tiger?” wondered another.
“Jack Nicklaus can show up at his age but Tiger can’t? Lame,” said a third.
Perhaps the five-time Masters winner had better things to do – or he’s just continuing his recovery from his torn Achilles.
