Phil’s brother, Tim, has decided to retire to spend more time with his family
Just weeks before the Masters Tournament gets underway, three-time champion Phil Mickelson has announced his brother, Tim, is to stop caddying for him after deciding to retire to spend more time with his family.

Tim Mickelson began caddying for his brother after Phil and his long-time caddie Jim “Bones” Mackay mutually agreed to go their separate ways in June 2017.

Since the two began working together the duo have won eight titles, including the 2021 PGA Championship, where Phil became the oldest winner of a Major Championship at the age of 50.

Before the brothers started working together, Tim spent a brief period as the agent of three-time DP World Tour Championship winner Jon Rahm.

“I’ve had some great accomplishments in my career and getting to share them with my brother Tim has been beyond special. I’m very lucky to have had him on the bag for me the past eight years and as my brother for life,” Mickelson wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

“So much has changed since he was single and we started working together. He’s found his life partner, Maranda, they’ve had their second son, and hopefully their family will continue to grow. While Tim is retiring from caddying, I’ll always cherish the many great moments we’ve shared on the course and I look forward to many more special moments off the course too.”

The six-time Major champion has not yet announced a replacement but is expected to have veteran caddie Jon Yarbrough on his bag starting with next week’s LIV Golf Miami.

The two were at Augusta National on Tuesday for a practice round in preparation for next month’s Masters.
Phil Mickelson will be hoping to add a fourth Green Jacket to his collection, with the American star coming close last year after shooting a final round 65 – tying his career low round at Augusta National – to finish in a share of second behind Rahm.
