Relations between Prince Harry and Prince William may be at an all-time low, but there used to be better times when Harry even fancied his future sister-in-law Kate Middleton might be the sister he never had.
In his memoir ‘Spare,’ Harry recalled some of their most memorable interactions, and while it wasn’t all joy, it wasn’t all pain either. For one thing, Harry liked making Kate laugh.
Prince Harry Thought Princess Kate Was A Good Match For Prince William
These days, Harry may claim that William and most other family members married people who fit the mold rather than for true love, but there was once a time when he believed that there could be none better for his big brother William than Kate.
In fact his first reaction on meeting Kate was that he “liked [his brother’s] new girlfriend.” He further described her as “carefree, sweet, and kind.”
He remembered having a connection with Kate’s “heavily disguised silly side.” He was also pleased when his brother revealed to him that he planned to marry Kate and was happy they would be together forever.
In case you’re wondering, Harry’s feelings didn’t exactly change overnight. Tension between Princess Kate and Meghan Markle kind of sparked right from the start, with Meghan revealing that Kate made her cry prior to her wedding.
The former American actress did go on to reveal that she and Kate did eventually kiss and makeup when the latter came to her offering flowers.
However, reports have suggested that the wives aren’t really the main thing that drove the brothers apart, but if it wasn’t, can we agree it played a part?
These days, the Sussexes spend their days airing their grievances against the royal family, with the most recent one being Harry hinting to the BBC that his father didn’t only ignore to help him during his court battle for security, but might have opposed him as well.
“There is a lot of control and ability in my father’s hands,” Harry claimed at the time. “Ultimately, this whole thing could be resolved through him. Not necessarily by intervening, but by stepping aside, allowing the experts [to] do what is necessary.”
