WASHINGTON (TNND) — Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) brushed off a reporter who raised concerns over allegations that Cory Mills (R-FL) beat an ex-girlfriend.
“This has been reported for a while,” the reporter said. “Cory Mills was accused of beating a girlfriend in his DC apartment, he was accused of stolen valor by people he claimed to have saved in the battlefield. Are you concerned about these allegations?”
“I have not heard or looked into any of the details of that,” Johnson said in response.
“I’ve been a little busy. We have a House Ethics Committee. If it warrants that, I’m sure they’ll look into that.”
Johnson called Mills a “faithful colleague” and insisted that they move on to discuss “things that are really serious.”
On Tuesday, a Florida judge granted Mills’ ex-girlfriend Lindsey Langston, 26, a restraining order against Mills after she alleged that the Congressman repeatedly threatened to release sexually explicit photos and videos of her after they broke up. He also allegedly threatened to attack any of Langston’s future romantic partners.
Langston filed a police report against Mills in July. By August, Mills was ordered to appear in court in response to the restraining order filed by Langston.
A judge concluded that Mills “offered no credible rebuttal” to Langston’s allegations. Mills has not been charged with a crime.
“Having considered the Respondent’s pattern of conduct, his reasoning for such conduct, his lack of reasoning for such conduct, and his direct and indirect communications on August 5, 2025, the Petitioner does have a reasonable cause to believe she is in imminent danger of becoming the victim of another act of dating violence without an injunction being entered,” the judge wrote.
The injunction will last until January 1, 2026.
Mills and Langston began dating in 2021, but broke up in February 2025, after news broke that police responded to a domestic violence call at Mills’ Washington D.C. condo. Another woman, who was also dating Mills, had made the police call, but she later walked back those allegations.
