Tiger Woods to see a change in caddie? It seems 2024 has brought with it speculations of the legend of golf employing a new looper on the bags. Although the golfer had roped in his daughter for the PNC Championship and best friend Rob McNamara for the Hero World Challenge, it appears he would have a different bagman assisting him on the greens!
A tweet was shared by TWLEGION, a fan page dedicated to the Hall of Famer, which mentioned Jon Wood being a probable candidate for becoming the golfer’s bagman “for some events in 2024.” Moreover, the post also points out “their close relationship and knowledge of his game” as the main reason for the decision to employ the veteran bagman all the while mentioning how “Rob McNamara” is “likely on for The Genesis.”
From making a comeback at the Hero World Challenge to playing at the PNC Championship with his son, the golfer has changed the person who was assisting him on the greens. Thus, it truly has been a rollercoaster of sorts for the fans of the American pro as they guess the next person who would caddie for Woods.
John Wood to become Tiger Woods’s caddie?
“The best guy at that was Tiger,” – said John Wood once in an exclusive interview as he showered praises on the 48-year-old’s Masters preparations. However, it seems that the analyst can sport a smile on his face since he has made the potential list of loopers that the pro may employ in 2024.
Currently working as an on-course Reporter at Golf Channel and NBC, Wood has been a caddie for the PGA Tour for two decades. Carrying the bags for the likes of players such as Matt Kuchar, Hunter Mahan, Kevin Sutherland, Chris Riley, and Mark Calcavecchia, he has proven to be one of the best in the business. Now, as the enthusiast seems to be one of the options for the 1997 Masters Tournament champ to employ on his bags, the rest on the list would seem to have a tough competition set ahead of them.
Tiger Woods’s caddies following his comeback
The 82X PGA Tour champ had been working with Joe LaCava up until the unfortunate ankle fusion surgery which knocked him out of the sport for a while. However, LaCava went ahead to start carrying the bags for Patrick Cantlay after which the 15X major champ went ahead to employ McNamara for his comeback event.
He is known to be one of the legend’s closest friends and a business associate. Moreover, he has been unofficially dubbed a coach for Woods following the former becoming a “trusted second set of eyes” for the pro after the VP of TGR Ventures was able to fill the shoes of Chris Como, Woods’s swing coach, back in 2017.
Moving on, he decided to entrust Sam Woods, his daughter, the set of clubs for the PNC Championship, making it a true parent-child affair for the Woods family. The eldest had once accompanied her father on the greens at the 2015 Masters during the par-3 family contest.
Well, with the amount of hype surrounding the professional and his caddie, it becomes natural for the fans to be extremely curious about who would help Tiger Woods in 2024. Although Charlie Woods, his 14-year-old son, also makes the list of people, only the legend would have an idea as to who would suit him best on the greens as he steps back on the course.
