Tiger Woods is currently coaching his son Charlie as he navigates the junior golf world while the elder Woods returns to full fitness following his Achilles tear
Tiger Woods’ son, Charlie, playfully told his iconic dad to hold back on the critiques after nailing a lengthy putt at the 47th Junior North and South Amateur at Pinehurst Resort.
Charlie is keen on carving out his own legacy in golf, a daunting challenge considering his dad’s status as one of the sport’s all-time greats. Tiger, despite physical setbacks, remains a 15-time major winner and a prominent figure on the PGA Tour, continuing to symbolize golf even six years following his last major victory.
Competing at the 47th Junior North and South Amateur at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina, Charlie also secured a spot in the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship in Dallas. Riding high on recent successes, including clinching his first AJGA title at the Team TaylorMade Invitational, he entered the tournament with high hopes.
However, Charlie couldn’t quite echo his previous win. He performed solidly but ended just shy of the top 10, carding a final round 1-under 71 after rounds of 72 on both Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 8.
While Davis Wotnosky emerged victorious at 10-under par, it was Charlie’s viral moment with his father that captured attention.
In his final round, the young golfer sank a long putt for his fourth birdie in five holes. Anticipating some of Tiger’s renowned critical feedback despite his impressive performance, Charlie quipped: “I don’t want to hear it.”

Tiger responded with a chuckle and praised him, saying: “Good putt.”
The conversation was caught on camera and shared across social media platforms, with fans quickly jumping in to discuss Charlie’s progress. One supporter commented: “Charlie seems like he’s been putting some pretty good rounds together competitively over the last few months.
“People’s obsession with wanting him to fail because of his dad is truly bizarre. Hope the kid crushes it in college.”
Yet, some responses were less encouraging, with critics questioning whether the burden of his father’s remarkable achievements might prove overwhelming. Another observer noted: “No disrespect to the kid, but I just have this feeling that if he does make it to the pro tour he’s gonna be an average pro.
“He is absolutely over rated. Got the vibe because his father. STOP IT!” chimed in another critic. A third person added: “Too much to live up to. Not gonna happen.”
Meanwhile, other fans concentrated on the father-son relationship between Charlie and Tiger, with one person sharing: “Love this…always looks like Charlie and Tiger are genuinely having a blast.”
Though it wasn’t another championship victory, Charlie and Tiger created lasting moments together on the legendary Pinehurst course. Tiger continues his recovery from a torn Achilles injury that cut short his 2025 campaign.
