HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The City and County of Honolulu held a press conference Thursday afternoon to discuss a recent fire at an industrial park on Oahu.

The Department of Environmental Services (ENV) confirmed that a fire was reported before 11 a.m. Wednesday inside the H-POWER facility in Campbell Industrial Park.

It was reportedly caused by improper disposal of a propane tank. The tank allegedly exploded inside the waste processing facility of the plant.

H-POWER is part of Oahu’s waste management and clean energy work, owned by the City and County of Honolulu.

The press conference took place at 1:30 p.m. outside the H-POWER building in Kapolei with director Roger Babcock.

The Honolulu Fire Department responded to the incident and contained the fire.

No one was hurt.

ENV is working closely with Reworld Honolulu, the facility operator, to assess the situation.
