Actor Bradley Cooper is in negotiations to star opposite Margot Robbie in the “Ocean’s Eleven” prequel at Warner Bros., according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film is set to take place before the 2001 heist comedy “Ocean’s Eleven,” starring George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, and Julia Roberts. So far, “Twisters” filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung has signed on to direct the movie that is being produced by Robbie’s production company, LuckyChap.

Details on the film’s plot remain ironclad, but the prequel is set to start shooting in 2026. Sources told Deadline Cooper, 50, was on board after meeting Chung, and has been close to the “Barbie” star over the years, and always wanted to work together on a project.

The current screenplay is by Carrie Solomon, which is reportedly set in Europe in the 1960s, and based on characters created by George Clayton Johnson & Jack Golden Russell.

The studio has yet to confirm the title, but the newest “Oceans” prequel will join a long list of movies in the “Oceans” franchise, including “Ocean’s 11” (1960), “Ocean’s Eleven” (2001), “Ocean’s Eight” (2018) and the mega-box office hit “Ocean’s Thirteen” starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney, which came out in 2007.

Clooney recently confirmed to E! News that Warner Bros. “just got the budget approved” and he is returning for “Ocean’s 14,” with his original co-stars Pitt and Roberts also likely to return.
